Enjoy the savory and flavorful Ajitsuke Tamago, perfect as a topping for ramen or a delicious snack!
**Ingredients**:
- 4 large eggs
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup mirin
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 clove garlic, minced (optional)
- 1 slice ginger, thinly sliced (optional)
**Instructions**:
1. **Cook the Eggs**:
- Bring a pot of water to a boil. Carefully add the eggs and cook for 6-7 minutes for a soft center, or adjust time to your preference.
- Immediately transfer the eggs to an ice bath to stop the cooking process. Let them cool for about 5 minutes.
2. **Prepare the Marinade**:
- In a small bowl or jar, combine soy sauce, mirin, water, and sugar. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
- Add minced garlic and ginger if using, for extra flavor.
3. **Peel and Marinate**:
- Gently peel the cooled eggs. Place them in a container or resealable bag.
- Pour the marinade over the eggs, making sure they are fully submerged. Seal the container or bag.
