- 4 large croissants
- 1/2 cup almond flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 egg
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- Sliced almonds for topping
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, combine almond flour, granulated sugar, softened butter, egg, and almond extract. Mix until well combined and smooth.
- Slice each croissant horizontally, but not all the way through, so you can open them up like a book.
- Spread the almond mixture evenly onto the bottom half of each croissant.
- Close the croissants and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Sprinkle sliced almonds on top of each croissant.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the croissants are golden brown and the almond filling is set.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
- Optionally, dust with powdered sugar before serving.
