  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water (110Β°F/45Β°C)
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon active dry yeast

    Instructions
  1. Mix the Dough
    • In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, and yeast.
    • Add the warm water and stir until a shaggy dough forms.
    • Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a clean kitchen towel and let it sit at room temperature for 12-18 hours. The dough will rise and develop bubbles on the surface.
  2. Shape the Dough
    • After the dough has rested, turn it out onto a floured surface.
    • Using floured hands, gently shape it into a round loaf. Try to handle the dough as little as possible to keep the air bubbles intact.
    • Place the dough on a piece of parchment paper and cover it with a clean kitchen towel. Let it rest for about 1-2 hours.
  3. Preheat the Oven
    • About 30 minutes before you plan to bake, preheat your oven to 450Β°F (230Β°C).
    • Place a Dutch oven or heavy pot with a lid into the oven while it preheats.
  4. Bake the Bread
    • When the oven is preheated and the dough has rested, carefully remove the hot Dutch oven from the oven.
    • Using the parchment paper, lift the dough and place it into the Dutch oven. Cover with the lid.
    • Bake for 30 minutes with the lid on.
    • After 30 minutes, remove the lid and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the bread is a deep golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
  5. Cool the Bread
    • Carefully remove the bread from the Dutch oven and transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
Enjoy your homemade artisan bread with butter, olive oil, or your favorite spreads!
