Relish the simple and delightful taste of Atayaki, a traditional Japanese baked sweet potato that's perfect as a snack or side dish!
**Ingredients**:
- 2 medium Japanese sweet potatoes (Satsumaimo)
**Instructions**:
1. **Prepare the Sweet Potatoes**:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Wash the sweet potatoes thoroughly to remove any dirt. Pat them dry with paper towels.
2. **Bake the Sweet Potatoes**:
- Place the sweet potatoes directly on the oven rack or on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil.
- Bake for 45-60 minutes, depending on the size of the sweet potatoes, until they are tender. You can test for doneness by inserting a fork or skewer; it should go in easily.
3. **Serve**:
- Remove the sweet potatoes from the oven and let them cool slightly.
- Slice them open and serve as is, or add a pat of butter for extra richness.
