BBQ chicken is a classic favorite for gatherings, cookouts, or simply a delicious weeknight meal. This recipe will guide you through creating tender, juicy BBQ chicken with a flavorful sauce that will have everyone asking for seconds. Let's fire up the grill and get cooking! 


Ingredients:
- 1 Whole Chicken
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup BBQ sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- Fresh chopped parsley or cilantro for garnish (optional)
- Lemon wedges for serving (optional)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Chicken:
- Pat the chicken thighs dry with paper towels. Season both sides generously with salt and pepper.
- Preheat the Grill:
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (about 375-400°F / 190-200°C).
- Make the BBQ Sauce Mixture:
- In a small bowl, whisk together the BBQ sauce, olive oil, honey, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder until well combined. This will be used as both a marinade and basting sauce for the chicken.
- Marinate the Chicken:
- Place the chicken thighs in a shallow dish or resealable plastic bag. Pour half of the BBQ sauce mixture over the chicken, making sure each piece is well coated. Reserve the remaining sauce for basting.
- Grill the Chicken:
- Place the chicken thighs on the preheated grill, skin-side down. Close the lid and cook for 5-7 minutes.
- Baste and Flip:
- After 5-7 minutes, baste the top side of the chicken thighs with some of the reserved BBQ sauce mixture using a brush.
- Flip the chicken thighs using tongs and baste the other side with more sauce. Close the lid and continue grilling for another 5-7 minutes.
- Check for Doneness:
- Continue grilling the chicken thighs, flipping and basting occasionally, until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C) and the juices run clear, about 15-20 minutes in total.
- Rest and Serve:
- Once cooked through, transfer the BBQ chicken thighs to a platter and let them rest for a few minutes.
- Garnish with fresh chopped parsley or cilantro if desired, and serve hot with lemon wedges on the side for a burst of freshness.
