have some sweets!
Ingredients:
- 4 medium sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1-inch cubes
- 2 tablespoons olive oil or melted butter
- 1/4 cup brown sugar (light or dark)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup or honey (optional, for extra caramelization)
- Fresh thyme or rosemary for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat Oven:Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
- Prepare Sweet Potatoes:Peel and cut the sweet potatoes into 1-inch cubes for even cooking.
- Season Sweet Potatoes:In a large bowl, toss the sweet potato cubes with olive oil or melted butter until they are evenly coated.
- Add Sweetener and Spices:Sprinkle the brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and black pepper over the sweet potatoes. Toss well to ensure the cubes are evenly coated with the sugar and spices.
- Roast:Spread the seasoned sweet potatoes in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. If you’re using maple syrup or honey, drizzle it over the sweet potatoes at this point.
- Bake:Roast the sweet potatoes in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until they are tender and caramelized. Halfway through cooking, stir the sweet potatoes to ensure even caramelization.
- Check for Doneness:The sweet potatoes are done when they are tender and have a golden-brown, caramelized exterior. You can check tenderness by poking a piece with a fork.
- Garnish and Serve:Remove the sweet potatoes from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh thyme or rosemary if desired.
