- 1 lb (450g) boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs, sliced into strips
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 8 small corn or flour tortillas
- Shredded lettuce
- Diced tomatoes
- Diced onions
- Sliced avocado or guacamole
- Grated cheese (such as cheddar or Monterey Jack)
- Sour cream
- Chopped cilantro
- Lime wedges for serving
- In a bowl, combine the sliced chicken with minced garlic, chili powder, cumin, paprika, dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Toss until the chicken is evenly coated with the spices.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned chicken strips to the skillet and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through and slightly browned. Remove from heat.
- While the chicken is cooking, warm the tortillas in a separate skillet or in the microwave according to the package instructions.
- To assemble the tacos, place a spoonful of the cooked chicken onto each tortilla. Top with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, diced onions, sliced avocado or guacamole, grated cheese, sour cream, and chopped cilantro.
- Squeeze a fresh lime wedge over each taco before serving for a burst of citrus flavor.
