- 2 shallots, finely chopped
- 1 head of garlic, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup crushed red pepper flakes
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- Optional: 1-2 tbsp toasted sesame seeds, 1-2 tbsp finely chopped peanuts
Instructions:
- Heat Oil: In a small pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat.
- Add Shallots and Garlic: Once the oil is hot, add the chopped shallots and garlic. Cook until they turn golden brown, stirring occasionally to avoid burning.
- Add Red Pepper Flakes: Remove the pot from heat and stir in the crushed red pepper flakes.
- Season: Add soy sauce, sugar, and salt to the mixture. Stir well to combine.
- Cool Down: Let the mixture cool completely. The flavors will meld together as it cools.
- Optional Add-ins: For added texture and flavor, you can mix in toasted sesame seeds and finely chopped peanuts once the mixture has cooled.
- Store: Transfer to a clean, airtight jar and store in the refrigerator.
