Ingredients:
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 2 cups white sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease and line two 9-inch cake pans.
- In a large bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, and salt. Whisk to combine.
- Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract. Whisk until smooth.
- Pour in boiling water and mix until well combined (batter will be thin).
- Divide batter evenly between prepared pans.
- Bake for 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow cakes to cool in pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
- Frost with your preferred chocolate buttercream frosting once cooled.
