- Prepare the Coconut: Place shredded coconut in a bowl and pour hot water over it. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes to soften and hydrate the coconut.
- Blend: Transfer the soaked coconut and water into a blender. Blend on high for 2-3 minutes until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
- Strain: Place a nut milk bag, cheesecloth, or fine mesh sieve over a bowl. Pour the blended coconut mixture into the bag or sieve to strain out the coconut pulp. Squeeze or press to extract as much liquid as possible.
- Collect the Cream: Transfer the strained liquid into a clean container. This liquid is your homemade coconut cream!
- Chill (Optional): For a thicker consistency, refrigerate the coconut cream for a few hours or overnight. The cream will solidify and separate from any remaining liquid.
