  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
Instructions:
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, and salt.
  2. Cut in the softened butter using a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the bowl, and mix until a dough forms.
  4. Roll out the dough on a floured surface until it's about 1/8 inch thick.
  5. Use a pastry cutter or knife to cut the dough into strips about 1 inch wide and 4 inches long.
  6. Make a small slit in the center of each strip, then pull one end of the strip through the slit to form a bow shape.
  7. In a deep fryer or large pot, heat the vegetable oil to 375°F (190°C).
  8. Fry the bows in batches for 1-2 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
  9. Remove the bows from the oil using a slotted spoon and drain them on paper towels.
  10. Dust the crispy Norwegian bows with powdered sugar while they're still warm.
