Easy Jam Sponge

Perfect for impromptu gatherings or cozy evenings at home, this classic dessert combines light and fluffy sponge cake with a generous layer of your favorite jam for a treat that's as simple to make as it is delicious.

Ingredients:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- Pinch of salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/2 cup your favorite jam (strawberry, raspberry, or apricot work well)

Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
2. In a mixing bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
3. In a separate bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
4. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, and mix until well combined.
6. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and spread it out evenly.
7. Spoon the jam over the top of the batter and swirl it gently with a knife to create a marbled effect.
8. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the cake is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
9. Remove from the oven and let cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
