Ingredients:
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- Toppings of your choice (such as rosemary, olives, cherry tomatoes, or sea salt)
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm water and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- Add the flour and salt to the yeast mixture. Stir until a dough forms.
- Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Drizzle a little olive oil into a clean bowl, then place the dough in the bowl and cover it with a clean towel. Let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper.
- Punch down the risen dough and transfer it to the prepared baking sheet. Gently stretch and press the dough to fit the pan.
- Drizzle the top of the dough with olive oil and use your fingers to make dimples all over the surface.
- Add your desired toppings, pressing them gently into the dough.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the focaccia is golden brown on top and sounds hollow when tapped.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before slicing and serving.
