Ingredients:


  • 200 g firm tofu
  • 50 g grated Parmesan cheese (about 1/2 cup)
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon white miso paste or Vegemite (optional)
  • 1/4 cup dill pickles or green salad
Directions:

  1. Preheat your grill to high.
  2. Line a tray with foil and lightly oil it. Place the tofu slice on the tray and grill for about 2 minutes or until it begins to brown. For a deeper color, grill until golden brown.
  3. In a small bowl, combine the egg and Parmesan cheese.
  4. Flip the tofu so the browned side is on the bottom. Spread a thin layer of miso paste or Vegemite (if using) on the surface of the tofu, or season generously with salt. Spoon the egg and Parmesan mixture over the top, covering most of the tofu.
  5. Return to the grill and cook for another 2 minutes or until the cheese mixture is puffed and deeply golden brown.
  6. Serve hot with dill pickles or a green salad on the side.

Thanks so much! I like to press the tofu to remove excess moisture and then coat it with a little cornstarch before grilling. It helps to get that nice, crispy exterior. Hope you give it a try!
