Ingredients:​

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon minced ginger
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • Sliced green onions for garnish

Instructions:​

  1. Prepare the Chicken:
    • In a bowl, toss the chicken pieces with cornstarch until well coated.
  2. Cook the Chicken:
    • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
    • Add the chicken pieces to the skillet and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Make the Sauce:
    • In the same skillet, add garlic and ginger. Cook for about 1 minute until fragrant.
    • Stir in soy sauce, honey (or maple syrup), rice vinegar, sesame oil, and water. Cook for another 2 minutes, stirring occasionally until the sauce thickens slightly.
  4. Combine Chicken and Sauce:
    • Return the cooked chicken to the skillet with the sauce. Toss until the chicken is well coated.
  5. Serve:
    • Transfer the sesame chicken to a serving plate.
    • Sprinkle sesame seeds and sliced green onions on top for garnish.
    • Serve with your choice of steamed vegetables or brown rice for a complete meal.
