Help! Why are my sugar cookies fluffy?

Every time I bake sugar cookies, they end up fluffy, almost like cake. I've tried tweaking oven temperatures and scrutinizing ingredient ratios, yet this puffiness persists. Could over-mixing dough be the culprit? Or maybe there’s something about my baking powder? Keen to hear your thoughts or suggestions for achieving that classic crispiness.

I think fluffy sugar cookies could be due to using too much leavening agent, like baking powder or baking soda, which causes them to rise excessively, though it's an easy fix! 🍪
