Have fun trying!
Ingredients:
- Granulated sugar (about 2 cups for a batch)
- Cotton candy flavoring (optional, available at specialty stores or online)
- Food coloring (optional, for adding color)
Equipment:
- Cotton candy machine
- Cotton candy cones or sticks
- Large bowl (to catch the cotton candy)
Instructions:
- Prepare Ingredients:
- If you want to add color or flavor, mix a few drops of food coloring and/or cotton candy flavoring into the granulated sugar. Stir well to distribute evenly.
- Preheat Machine:
- Set up your cotton candy machine according to the manufacturer’s instructions and preheat it if needed.
- Load Sugar:
- Once the machine is preheated, carefully pour the prepared sugar into the machine's spinning head. Follow the specific instructions for your machine regarding the amount of sugar to use.
- Make Cotton Candy:
- Turn on the machine and wait for the sugar to start spinning and forming cotton candy. It will gather around the sides of the bowl. Use a cotton candy cone or stick to gather and spin the cotton candy into a fluffy cloud.
- Serve Immediately:
- Cotton candy is best enjoyed fresh. Serve it immediately after making it, as it can start to lose its fluffiness over time.
- Cleanup:
- Turn off the machine and unplug it. Allow it to cool before cleaning. Most machines have removable parts that can be washed with warm, soapy water. Be sure to follow the manufacturer’s cleaning instructions.
Tips:
- Flavors and Colors: You can experiment with different flavors and colors by using various cotton candy flavorings and food colorings. Just be sure to use those that are safe for consumption and recommended for use with cotton candy machines.
- Avoid Humidity: Cotton candy can be affected by humidity, so try to make it on a dry day for the best results. If you’re in a humid environment, it might be helpful to use a dehumidifier in the room where you’re making the cotton candy.
