Hey everyone! I wanted to share my go-to churros recipe because it’s always a hit at family gatherings and super simple to make. Perfect for when you’re craving something sweet, crispy, and coated in cinnamon sugar! Give it a try and let me know how yours turn out!
Ingredients
For the churros:- 1 cup water
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Make the dough: In a saucepan, combine water, butter, sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and add the flour. Stir constantly until the dough forms a ball and pulls away from the sides.
- Cool slightly: Let the dough cool for about 5 minutes. Add the egg and vanilla, and mix until smooth and shiny.
- Prepare for frying: Heat about 2 inches of oil in a pot to 350°F (175°C). Spoon the dough into a piping bag fitted with a star tip.
- Pipe and fry: Pipe 4-5 inch strips of dough directly into the hot oil (use scissors to cut the ends). Fry for about 2-3 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown.
- Coat in cinnamon sugar: Mix the sugar and cinnamon in a bowl. Roll the warm churros in the mixture to coat evenly.
- Serve: Serve immediately with chocolate sauce or dulce de leche for dipping.
