Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
- 3/4 cup cold milk (or buttermilk)
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
- Cut in Butter: Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture and cut it in with a pastry cutter or fork until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add Milk: Slowly pour in the cold milk and stir until the dough comes together. Be careful not to overmix!
- Shape the Biscuits: Turn the dough out onto a floured surface, gently knead a few times, and pat it into a 1/2-inch thick circle. Use a biscuit cutter or glass to cut out biscuits.
- Bake: Place the biscuits on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Serve: Serve warm with butter, jam, or gravy!
