I finally made the famous IKEA Swedish meatballs at home, and they turned out amazing! The creamy sauce and tender meatballs totally lived up to the hype. Here’s how you can make them too:
Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 lb ground pork
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup milk
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp flour
- 1 1/2 cups beef broth
- 3/4 cup heavy cream
- 2 tsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard
Instructions:
- In a bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, onion, garlic, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, salt, and pepper. Mix well and form into small meatballs.
- Heat some oil in a pan and cook the meatballs until browned on all sides and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pan, melt the butter and whisk in the flour. Cook for a minute, then slowly add the beef broth, whisking continuously.
- Stir in the heavy cream, soy sauce, and Dijon mustard. Simmer until the sauce thickens.
- Return the meatballs to the pan and coat them with the sauce. Cook for a few more minutes until everything is heated through.
