Is elote yellow or white corn?

So, got into a bit of a debate online about elote. Is this street food classic made with yellow or white corn? Seriously, I've seen recipes swinging both ways, and now I'm caught in the middle, trying to figure out which is more authentic. Anyone else wondering about this?

Elote can be made with either yellow or white corn Both are totally authentic depending on the region ..I've seen it both ways too .. Doesn't matter the color, the taste is always amazing
