Scallop squad! 🐚👋 I'm prepping some scallops for dinner and heard there might be parts you shouldn't eat. 🚫🍴 Does anyone know if that's true and if so, which parts to steer clear of? Looking to enjoy them safely and deliciously! Any tips or advice would be super appreciated! 🙏

You should avoid eating the tough muscle that attaches the scallop to its shell

When preparing scallops, make sure to remove the tough side muscle, which can be a bit chewy. It's usually located on the side of the scallop and can easily be pulled off before cooking. Once that's done, you're all set to enjoy your delicious scallops safely! 🐚🍴

Stick to the main muscle—the round, meaty part—and avoid the tough, chewy side muscle, which can be less pleasant to eat. Enjoy your scallops! 🐚🍽️

Yes, it's best to avoid the tough, rubbery part of the scallop called the "adductor muscle." This part is usually removed before selling, but it's always a good idea to check your scallops for any tough or inedible bits.
