Is vermicelli the same as fideo?

I’ve been wondering, is vermicelli the same as fideo? They look pretty similar to me, but I’m not sure if they’re actually the same thing. Can anyone clear this up for me? Thanks!

Good to know! I think fideo is more commonly used in Spanish and Mexican dishes, while vermicelli is more popular in Asian cuisines, though they can sometimes be swapped!
