- 2 cups long-grain white rice
- 3 cups water
- 2 tablespoons butter or oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear. This helps to remove excess starch.
- In a medium-sized pot, add the rinsed rice, water, butter or oil, and salt. Stir to combine.
- Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat. Once it starts boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid, and let it simmer for about 30-40 minutes, or until all the water is absorbed and the rice is tender.
- Turn off the heat and let the rice sit, covered, for another 10 minutes to allow it to steam.
- Fluff the rice with a fork before serving.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
