Kentucky Butter Cake Recipe
Ingredients:
Cake:
- 3 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
- 2 cups white sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup white sugar
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter
- 3 tablespoons water
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C). Grease and flour a 10-inch Bundt pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and baking soda.
- Add buttermilk, softened butter, eggs, and vanilla extract. Using an electric mixer, blend on medium speed for 3 minutes until smooth and well combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared Bundt pan.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 1 hour, or until a wooden toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
- While the cake is baking, prepare the butter sauce: In a saucepan over medium heat, combine sugar, butter, water, and vanilla extract. Stir continuously until the mixture is fully melted and smooth. Do not let it boil.
- When the cake is done, remove it from the oven. While still warm, use a toothpick or skewer to prick holes all over the cake.
- Slowly pour the warm butter sauce over the top of the cake, allowing it to soak into the holes and cover the surface evenly.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 30 minutes before carefully removing it onto a serving plate.
- Slice and enjoy this deliciously moist and buttery vanilla cake!
