👩‍🍳 Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs pork leg or hock
  • 6 cups water
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup oyster sauce
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp black soy sauce
  • 5 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 5 slices ginger
  • 2 star anise
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 4-5 hard-boiled eggs, peeled (optional)
  • Cooked jasmine rice and pickled mustard greens, to serve
📝 Instructions:

  1. In a large pot, combine water, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, black soy sauce, garlic, ginger, star anise, and cinnamon sticks. Bring to a boil.
  2. Add the pork leg or hock to the pot. Reduce heat to low and simmer, covered, for 2.5 to 3 hours or until pork is tender and falls off the bone.
  3. Remove pork from the pot and slice into bite-sized pieces. Strain and reserve the broth.
  4. To serve, place a serving of cooked jasmine rice in a bowl, top with slices of pork, and ladle some of the broth over the rice. Add hard-boiled eggs and pickled mustard greens on the side.
