- 1 cup freshly squeezed lime juice (about 8-10 limes)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 4 cups cold water
- Ice cubes

- Fresh mint leaves, for garnish (optional)
- In a small saucepan, combine the granulated sugar with 1 cup of water. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar is completely dissolved. This creates a simple syrup. Remove from heat and let it cool.
- In a large pitcher, combine the freshly squeezed lime juice with the simple syrup.
- Add the remaining 3 cups of cold water to the pitcher and stir to combine. Taste and adjust the sweetness or tartness by adding more sugar or lime juice if desired.
- Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the limeade over the ice.
- Garnish each glass with a slice of lime and a sprig of fresh mint, if desired.
- Stir well before serving.
