- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 cup milk
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for a spicy kick)
- Melt the Butter:
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
- Make the Roux:
- Add the flour to the melted butter and whisk continuously for about 1 minute, until it forms a smooth paste.
- Add the Milk:
- Gradually whisk in the milk, ensuring there are no lumps. Continue to cook and whisk until the mixture thickens, about 3-5 minutes.
- Add the Cheese:
