Nashville hot chicken is a spicy, crispy fried chicken that's become a popular dish across the United States. These sliders are a perfect way to enjoy this flavorful treat in a bite-sized format.
Ingredients:
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Slider buns
- Nashville hot sauce
- Pickles
- Coleslaw
Instructions:
- Marinate the chicken: In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk, salt, pepper, paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Add the chicken breasts and marinate for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight.
- Prepare the breading: In a shallow dish, combine the flour and cornstarch.
- Bread the chicken: Remove the chicken from the marinade and shake off any excess. Dredge the chicken in the flour mixture, then return it to the marinade for a few minutes.
- Fry the chicken: Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Remove the chicken from the marinade and gently place it in the hot oil. Fry for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Assemble the sliders: Place a slider bun on a plate. Top with a piece of fried chicken, a spoonful of Nashville hot sauce, pickles, and coleslaw. Repeat with the remaining buns.
