- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon dry mustard powder
- 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- 1/4 teaspoon ground bay leaves (optional, if available)
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground mace (optional, if available)
Instructions:
- Mix Spices:
- In a small bowl, combine all the spices listed above.
- Blend Well:
- Stir or whisk thoroughly until all the spices are well combined.
- Store:
- Transfer the Old Bay seasoning blend to an airtight container or spice jar with a tight-fitting lid.
- Use:
- Use your homemade Old Bay seasoning as a seasoning for seafood (like shrimp, crab, or fish), poultry, vegetables, or even in soups and stews. It adds a flavorful kick with hints of spice and warmth.
Notes:
- Adjust the amount of cayenne pepper to control the heat level according to your preference.
- If you have whole spices, you can grind them using a spice grinder or mortar and pestle for fresher flavor.
