Ingredients

- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon unflavored gelatin
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Zest of 1 orange
- 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon water
- Optional: orange zest for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the Gelatin:
- In a small bowl, sprinkle the gelatin over 1/4 cup of water. Let it sit for about 5 minutes to bloom.
- Make the Panna Cotta:
- In a saucepan, combine the heavy cream, milk, and sugar. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is warm (but not boiling).
- Remove from heat and stir in the bloomed gelatin until completely dissolved.
- Add the vanilla extract and orange zest, mixing well.
- Chill the Panna Cotta:
- Pour the mixture into individual serving glasses or ramekins.
- Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or until set.
- Prepare the Orange Sauce:
- In a small saucepan, combine the orange juice and granulated sugar. Heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.
- In a separate small bowl, mix the cornstarch with 1 tablespoon of water to make a slurry.
- Stir the slurry into the orange juice mixture and cook until thickened, about 1-2 minutes. Let it cool.
- Serve:
- Spoon the orange sauce over the chilled panna cotta.
- Garnish with additional orange zest if desired.
