Ingredients:
- 4 ripe tomatoes, diced
- 1 small red onion, finely chopped
- 1-2 jalapeño peppers, seeded and finely chopped (adjust to taste)
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- 2 tablespoons lime juice (about 1 lime)
- Salt, to taste
- Optional: 1 clove garlic, minced
- Prepare Vegetables: Dice the tomatoes and finely chop the red onion, jalapeño peppers, and fresh cilantro. If using garlic, mince it finely.
- Combine Ingredients: In a medium bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, chopped red onion, jalapeño peppers, and cilantro. Add the lime juice and mix well.
- Season: Sprinkle with salt to taste, and add the minced garlic if desired. Stir to combine all the ingredients thoroughly.
- Chill and Serve: For the best flavor, let the Pico de Gallo sit for at least 15-20 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld. Serve as a topping for tacos, burritos, or grilled meats, or enjoy it with tortilla chips as a fresh and tasty dip.
- Store: Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Stir well before serving.
