I recently tried this Pork Carnitas recipe, and it turned out so tender and flavorful that I just had to share it with you. The meat practically melts in your mouth, and the crispy edges add that perfect texture.
Ingredients:
- 2 lbs pork shoulder, cut into chunks
- 1 onion, chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp oregano
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp salt
- Juice of 1 orange
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
Instructions:
- Season the Pork: In a large bowl, toss the pork chunks with cumin, oregano, chili powder, and salt.
- Cook the Pork: Heat the oil in a large pot over medium heat. Sear the pork on all sides until browned.
- Add Aromatics: Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the pot, cooking until softened.
- Simmer: Pour in the orange juice and chicken broth, bringing the mixture to a simmer. Cover and cook on low heat for about 2 hours until the pork is tender.
- Crisp It Up: Once the pork is cooked, remove the lid and increase the heat to medium-high. Let the liquid evaporate, allowing the pork to crisp up in its own fat.
