Saba no Misoni - Mackerel Simmered in Miso Recipe:
Ingredients:
- 2 mackerel fillets
- 1/4 cup miso paste
- 2 tablespoons sake
- 2 tablespoons mirin
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1 small piece of ginger, thinly sliced
Instructions:
1. In a pot, combine miso paste, sake, mirin, soy sauce, sugar, and water, and bring to a simmer.
2. Add the ginger slices and place the mackerel fillets skin-side up in the pot.
3. Simmer over low heat, spooning the sauce over the mackerel, until the fish is cooked through and the sauce thickens.
4. Serve the mackerel with a generous amount of the miso sauce and enjoy with steamed rice.
