- 2 cups cooked ham, diced
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup chopped green onions
- 6 large eggs
- 2 cups milk (whole or 2%)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 4 cups cubed bread (day-old works best, any kind you like)
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with a bit of butter or cooking spray.
- Prepare the Bread: Spread the cubed bread evenly in the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
- Add Ham and Cheese: Sprinkle the diced ham over the bread cubes, followed by the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheeses. Sprinkle the chopped green onions over the top.
- Mix the Egg Mixture: In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder until well combined.
- Assemble the Casserole: Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread, ham, and cheese in the baking dish. Press down slightly with a spoon to ensure the bread soaks up the egg mixture.
- Bake: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the casserole is set and the top is golden brown.
- Serve: Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before cutting into squares. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if you like a bit of color and freshness.
