- 8 ounces Ahi Tuna steak (about 230 grams), thawed if frozen
- ½ tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon white sesame seeds
- 1 tablespoon black sesame seeds
- ½ teaspoon sea salt
- 2.6 ounces asparagus (about 75 grams)
- 1 avocado
- 5 ounces arugula (1 bag, about 142 grams)
- 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
- 1½ tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 1½ teaspoons sesame oil
- ¼ to ½ teaspoon grated fresh ginger
- Juice of ½ lime
- 1 tablespoon honey
- Wasabi (optional)
- Cast iron skillet (optional)
Instructions:
For the Tuna:
- Heat a large skillet over high heat.
- While the skillet heats, coat the tuna steak with Dijon mustard.
- On a shallow plate, mix the white and black sesame seeds. Press the tuna steak into the seeds to coat it on all sides.
- Once the skillet is very hot, place the tuna in the skillet. Sear for 1 to 1½ minutes on one side, then flip to sear all sides.
- Transfer the tuna to a cutting board and let it rest for a minute before slicing.
- In the still-hot skillet, add ½ teaspoon of salt to a small amount of hot water. Trim the tips off the asparagus and add them to the skillet. Cook briefly for about 3-4 minutes until bright green.
- Remove the asparagus and place it in cold water to stop the cooking process.
- Slice the tuna and avocado. You can cut the avocado into small squares if preferred.
- Arrange arugula on serving plates and top with slices of tuna, avocado, and asparagus.
- Prepare the dressing: In a small bowl, mix the soy sauce, Dijon mustard, sesame oil, grated ginger, lime juice, honey, and wasabi if using. Season with a pinch of salt to taste.
- Drizzle the dressing over the salad and serve.
