Hey everyone! I thought Iād share my go-to recipe for a simple, crusty white bread. Itās perfect for beginners but still gives you that bakery-style vibe. I love how it fills the house with that fresh bread smell! Let me know if you try it and how it turns out.
Ingredients:
Ingredients:
- 3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- 1 1/4 cups warm water (not too hot!)
- In a large bowl, mix the flour, salt, and sugar.
- Dissolve the yeast in the warm water and let it sit for about 5 minutes until itās frothy.
- Add the yeast mixture to the dry ingredients and mix until it forms a shaggy dough.
- Turn it onto a floured surface and knead for 8ā10 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise for 1ā2 hours or until doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 450Ā°F (230Ā°C). Place a baking stone or an overturned baking sheet inside to heat.
- Punch down the dough, shape it into a round loaf, and place it on parchment paper.
- Slash the top with a sharp knife for that classic crusty look.
- Bake on the preheated stone for 25ā30 minutes until golden brown and it sounds hollow when tapped.
