👩‍🍳 Ingredients:

  • 1 small green papaya, peeled and shredded
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 cup green beans, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 2-3 Thai chilies, finely chopped (adjust to taste)
  • 2-3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp fish sauce
  • 2 tbsp lime juice
  • 1 tbsp palm sugar or brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp roasted peanuts, crushed
  • Fresh cilantro leaves, for garnish
  • Fresh lettuce leaves, for serving
📝 Instructions:

  1. In a large mortar or bowl, pound Thai chilies and garlic into a rough paste using a pestle.
  2. Add shredded green papaya and pound gently to bruise slightly.
  3. Add cherry tomatoes, green beans, fish sauce, lime juice, and sugar. Mix well using a spoon or pestle.
  4. Taste and adjust the seasoning, adding more fish sauce, lime juice, or sugar if needed.
  5. Transfer the salad to a serving plate lined with fresh lettuce leaves. Sprinkle with crushed roasted peanuts and garnish with fresh cilantro leaves.

Som Tum Thai is one of my favorite Thai salads! The mix of sweet, sour, salty, and spicy flavors is just perfect. It's so refreshing on a hot day!
