Spicy Tuna Tartare is one of those dishes that feels fancy but is surprisingly easy to make at home. I gave it a shot, and the combination of fresh tuna with the kick of spice and creamy avocado was just perfect. It’s a great appetizer or light meal, and it’s ready in no time. Let’s dive into the recipe!
Ingredients:
- 8 oz sushi-grade tuna, diced into small cubes
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 tsp sriracha (or more, if you like it spicier)
- 1 tsp rice vinegar
- 1/2 tsp grated fresh ginger
- 1 small shallot, finely diced
- 1 tbsp chopped fresh chives
- 1 avocado, diced
- 1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
- Wonton chips, crackers, or cucumber slices for serving
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Prepare the Tuna: In a bowl, combine the diced tuna, soy sauce, sesame oil, sriracha, rice vinegar, and grated ginger. Mix gently to coat the tuna with the sauce.
- Add Shallots and Chives: Stir in the finely diced shallots and chopped chives. These add a nice crunch and freshness to balance the rich tuna.
- Prepare the Avocado: Gently fold in the diced avocado, being careful not to mash it. The avocado adds a creamy texture that pairs beautifully with the spicy tuna.
- Season & Chill: Taste the tartare and season with salt and pepper as needed. If you have time, chill it in the fridge for about 10-15 minutes to let the flavors meld together.
- Serve: Spoon the tuna tartare onto wonton chips, crackers, or cucumber slices for a fresh, crunchy bite. Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds for some extra flavor and texture.
