323 kB - Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon water
- Sesame seeds and sliced green onions, for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
- Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides.
- In a bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, 1/4 cup water, brown sugar, honey, minced garlic, and grated ginger to make the teriyaki sauce.
- Place the chicken breasts in a shallow dish or resealable plastic bag and pour half of the teriyaki sauce over them. Reserve the remaining sauce for later.
- Marinate the chicken in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or up to 4 hours for maximum flavor.
- Heat a grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the chicken breasts and cook for 6-7 minutes on each side, or until cooked through and no longer pink in the center.
- While the chicken is cooking, prepare the remaining teriyaki sauce: In a small saucepan, combine the cornstarch and 1 tablespoon water. Gradually whisk in the reserved teriyaki sauce until smooth.
- Bring the sauce to a simmer over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens to your desired consistency.
- Once the chicken is cooked, remove it from the grill pan or skillet and let it rest for a few minutes.
- Slice the chicken breasts and drizzle with the thickened teriyaki sauce. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions, if desired.
- Serve the Teriyaki Boneless Chicken hot with steamed rice and your favorite vegetables.
