- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup milk
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan with butter and dust it lightly with flour, tapping out any excess flour.
- In a medium bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, using a hand mixer or stand mixer.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, and mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread it out evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
- Remove the pound cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
