What actually makes chili spicy?

I’d love to learn about the different ingredients and techniques that can bring out the best heat in chili. What do you guys think?

Chili's spiciness mostly comes from the capsaicin in the peppers, but there's more to it! 
The heat can also be influenced by how the peppers are cooked, the type of chili powder or flakes you use, and even ingredients like cayenne, black pepper, or paprika. Some recipes use spicy oils or sauces to add layers of heat. Techniques like toasting the spices can also bring out a deeper, warmer spiciness. So, it’s a mix of both the peppers and how you build the flavors!
