What do you all use as a base when making hot sauce?

I’m experimenting with making my own hot sauce. What bases do you folks recommend? Tomato, vinegar, or something more out there?

Vinegar adds a nice tang, but if you want to get creative, try using mango or pineapple for a sweet twist. It really takes the heat to the next level!

I usually use tomatoes or tomato paste. They add sweetness and richness to the sauce. Sometimes, I incorporate lime, lemon, or orange juice for acidity.
