What's the difference between a White Russian and a Black Russian?

Hey everyone! Curious here - what really sets apart White Russians from Black Russians? From what I gather, both cocktails have vodka and coffee liqueur. Yet, only the White has cream or milk. I've seen some debates over the best types of dairy to use. Any thoughts or personal preferences on this?

I suggest on trying first a half and half (equal parts of cream and whole milk) as this will give you the richness and creaminess without being too heavy
