Why are my cinnamon rolls not fluffy?

Hey, why do my cinnamon rolls always turn out more like hockey pucks than clouds? I have tried different recipes and even played around with oven temperatures, but no matter what, they always end up dense. I really want to make them fluffy and easily torn apart rolls. Anybody got any tips or techniques? I'd really appreciate the help.
