Hey there, breakfast lovers! ๐ŸŒž If you're looking to start your day off right with a slice or two...or three of some seriously scrumptious bread, then this recipe is for you. This homemade rye bread is not only packed with nutty, robust flavors, but it's also incredibly easy to make โ€“ even for us non-professional bakers out there ;)

Ingredients:
  • 1 cup warm water (110ยฐF-115ยฐF)
  • 1 package active dry yeast (about 2 1/4 tsp)
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 2 tbsp butter, melted
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup rye flour
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (plus more for dusting)
Instructions:
  1. In a large bowl, combine the warm water and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until the yeast gets all bubbly and activated.
  2. Stir in the molasses, melted butter, and salt until well combined.
  3. Add in the rye flour and 1 cup of the all-purpose flour. Using a sturdy spoon (or your hands if you're feeling adventurous), mix everything together until a shaggy dough forms.
  4. Dust a clean surface with some extra all-purpose flour and turn the dough out onto it. Knead that bad boy for about 5-7 minutes, gradually incorporating the remaining 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour as needed. The dough should be smooth and elastic when you're done.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth or plastic wrap, and let it rise for about an hour or until it's doubled in size.
  6. Once it's nice and puffy, punch down the dough to release any air bubbles. Shape it into a round loaf and place it in a greased 9-inch round baking pan.
  7. Cover the pan and let the dough rise for another 30 minutes or so while you preheat your oven to 375ยฐF.
  8. Bake the bread for 30-35 minutes, or until it's a beautiful deep golden brown and sounds hollow when you tap the bottom.
  9. Remove the loaf from the pan and let it cool completely on a wire rack before slicing into it.
