Hey everyone! Excited to share a delicious and easy pastry recipe: Balsamic Strawberry and Basil Galettes! 🍓🌿 These treats are bursting with sweet strawberries, tangy balsamic, and fresh basil, all wrapped in flaky puff pastry. Perfect for impressing guests or treating yourself to a taste of summer.

Ingredients:

  • 1 sheet of store-bought puff pastry, thawed
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon fresh basil leaves, finely chopped
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Optional: powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, toss the sliced strawberries with balsamic vinegar, granulated sugar, and chopped basil until well coated. Set aside.
  3. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and cut it into 4 equal squares.
  4. Spoon the strawberry mixture onto the center of each pastry square, leaving a border around the edges.
  5. Gently fold the edges of the pastry over the strawberries, pleating as needed to create a rustic galette shape.
  6. Place the assembled galettes on the prepared baking sheet and brush the pastry edges with beaten egg for a golden finish.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and the strawberries are bubbly.
  8. Allow the galettes to cool slightly before serving. Optionally, dust with powdered sugar for a decorative touch.
