- 1 cup black rice
- 2 cups water
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon olive oil or butter (optional)
- Rinse Rice: Rinse the black rice under cold water to remove any excess starch.
- Combine Ingredients: In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed black rice, water, and salt.
- Boil and Simmer: Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover, and let it simmer for 30-35 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the water is absorbed.
- Rest and Fluff: Remove from heat and let the rice sit, covered, for an additional 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork and stir in olive oil or butter if desired.
- Serve: Serve the black rice as a side dish or use it as a base for grain bowls, salads, or stir-fries.
