  • 4 medium Yukon gold or other yellow-fleshed potatoes (1-1/2 pounds), thinly sliced (about 5 cups)
  • ⅓ cup sliced green onion (3) or thinly sliced leek
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 ½ cups shredded Swiss cheese, Gruyère, provolone, or Jarlsberg cheese (6 ounces)
  • 1 cup whipping cream
Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 2-quart square baking dish.
  2. Layer half of the sliced potatoes and half of the green onion in the prepared dish. Sprinkle with half of the minced garlic, salt, and black pepper. Then, sprinkle with half of the shredded cheese. Repeat the layers.
  3. Pour the whipping cream evenly over the top.
  4. Bake, covered, in the preheated oven for 1 hour and 10 minutes. Then, uncover and bake for an additional 20 to 30 minutes or until the potatoes are tender when pierced with a fork and the top is golden brown.
