Ingredients:
For the Dough:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup warm water
- 1 cup cooked chicken, shredded
- 1/2 cup green onions, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup cabbage, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup water (for steaming)
- Make the Dough:
- In a large bowl, mix the flour and salt.
- Gradually add warm water, stirring with a fork until the dough comes together.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- Prepare the Filling:
- In a medium bowl, combine the shredded chicken, green onions, cabbage, garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Roll Out the Dough:
- Divide the rested dough into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter.
- Roll each ball into a thin circle on a floured surface, about 3 inches in diameter.
- Fill the Dumplings:
- Place a small spoonful of the chicken filling in the center of each dough circle.
- Fold the dough over the filling to create a half-moon shape. Press the edges together to seal. You can pleat the edges for a decorative touch if desired.
- Cook the Dumplings:
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Place the dumplings in the skillet, flat side down, and cook until the bottoms are golden brown, about 2-3 minutes.
- Carefully add 1/2 cup water to the skillet and cover immediately to steam the dumplings. Cook for another 5-7 minutes, or until the water has evaporated and the dumplings are cooked through.
- Serve:
- Remove the dumplings from the skillet and serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce, like soy sauce or a vinegar-based sauce.
